On December 1st, the
Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia (HBA-DC), the
K&L Gates DC Diversity Committee, and
The Bar Association of the District of Columbia Civil & Human Rights Committee hosted a panel discussion highlighting Latina Equal Pay Day, including pay equity best practices and compliance guidance for organizations.
The COVID-19 pandemic further widened the pay gap between Latinas and their peers. This year, Latina Equal Pay Day took place on 8 December, marking the 11 extra months Latinas must work to make the average yearly earnings of White, non-Hispanic men, with a pay gap approaching 50%.
This program focuses on the proactive steps that an organization can take to begin to close the Latina pay gap. The discussion includes how organizations can conduct pay equity self-audits as part of their DEIA programs, and best practices for how to avoid pay disparities developing.
