Today, 46 states + DC have laws that specifically prohibit this behavior, federal legislation has been introduced, and the material is prohibited by mainstream social media platforms and internet intermediaries. And yet, individuals who fall victim to online “sextortion” schemes or image-based abuse generally don’t know what to do, and lawyers often don’t know how to help them.
