This 90-minute program covers various legal and policy issues regarding sexual privacy with a focus on the current legal frameworks available to victims of sexual cyberharassment (colloquially known as “revenge porn”). We cover the policy landscape across various states where legislation addressing cyber harassment has either been proposed or enacted, and the federal Intimate Privacy Protection Act introduced in Congress in 2016. The program is presented by panelists who have worked on drafting legislation that criminalizes this behavior, as well as those who have spoken out against some proposed legislation (like the American Civil Liberties Union). Panelists also discuss sexual privacy issues faced in education, the challenges of law enforcement, and the work of various non-profit organizations such as the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative, Without My Consent, the Tyler Clementi Institute for Cyber Safety at New York.
